About The Classes

HATHA YOGA

In the physical practice of Hatha Yoga, we certainly open, tone and strengthen the body.  As we focus and relax the body, the mind follows and becomes more focused and calm as well.  This body-mind connection can only be achieved through pranayama (proper breathing techniques).  The breath is the link between body and mind. My classes focus on the breath, no matter how gentle or challenging the practice may be.  Yoga means union.  When we stay connected to our breath, we can experience integration of body, mind & spirit.

 All Levels Drop-Off Yoga

(Tues/Thurs 8:15-9:45am @ Park Lake Presbyterian Church [PLPC]*)

is perfect for the beginner  as well as the seasoned practitioner who wishes to deepen his or her practice. While linking of asanas into a flow are kept at a minimum, we do hold postures for “longer” periods of time to build strength and maximize benefits of the poses. Modifications are always offered to meet the individuals needs of each student.  Cost is only $5.00 per class. This class meets when Lake Highland Prep has classes.

 More Hatha Yoga

Hatha Flow (Mondays 9:15-10:15am @ JCC in Maitland)  Building from the basics, we begin to flow, linking postures together to create more heat and to feel a true meditation in motion.  Free for JCC members. $10 for visitors.

Hatha I (Tue/Thurs. 11:00am-12:15pm @Mindful Body of Maitland)  We stay grounded in the basics of breathing techniques, alignment of postures, and building awareness of what we do on the mat.  This class is also perfect for the beginner, as well as the seasoned practitioner who wishes to deepen his or her practice.  Please check www.mymindfulbody.com for studio pricing.

Gentle Yoga (Wednesdays 9:30-10:45am @ Mindful Body of Maitland) A beautiful way to start doing yoga, or just to come inward and find deep relaxation within the basics of hatha yoga.  We keep standing postures to a minimum.  Even more time is devoted to teaching how to breathe diaphragmatically, and learning to develop awareness of the movements and breath.

  • Boosts the immune system
  • Improves circulation
  • Is a great cardiovascular & mid-body workout
  • Fosters feelings of kindness, forgiveness, joy & love
  • Is more fun than a barrel of monkeys
  • Is truly the best medicine
